Estranged from her father, Leslie prayed for one last chance to connect with him in Peru. The experience moved her to give to a friend what she couldn’t to her dad.

From Lima, Peru. Leslie Day came to the United States in December 2003 and moved to Iowa in 2004. She studied architecture at Iowa State, where she graduated with a master’s degree. She currently lives in Ames with her 11-year-old son, Tristan, and her mom, Mina.
