Emily Shields

Emily Shields is director of Iowa Campus Compact, an association of college and university presidents who collaborate on ways to promote civic responsibility among the students they educate. Previously she worked as chief of staff of the Rebuild Iowa Office that coordinated recovery from the 2008 floods. She also worked for Gov. Chet Culver and on John Kerry’s presidential campaign. Shields has a Master’s in philanthropy and nonprofit development from the University of Northern Iowa and a bachelor’s in journalism and political science from the University of Iowa.
