The Storytellers Project brings the gift of storytelling to your community or group. Plan and host your own Storytellers Day event, or invite our team of professionals to host the memorable day for your group. Building Community through Storytelling.

When most people think about writing their life stories, they often stare at a blank piece of paper and wonder "How do I begin?"

You can bring our professional teams in to your center, place of worship, town or business to have a fun, family & community event that leaves you with a lasting legacy of stories.

Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to learn about the Storytelling Tour and hosting a Storytelling Day Event. Why are such projects important? Why should you host a Storytelling Day Event in your community, family, or association?

The Storytelling method was developed by training under experienced Oral Historians and learning from their past projects and expertise, and interviewing over 1,500 people to get them started on their own Life Stories and the important of storytelling. What we found was that Life Stories do not exist in any vacuum. Community, family, religion, economy, interest groups, lifestyle and other important factors both geographical and behavioral impact people's Stories. What does this mean for community - families, towns, neighborhoods, associations - anywhere people gather together? Our Stories are a part of the collective of our eras. Intertwined with each other, Stories gather our voices together to lift the historical narrative of communities.

The Story of My Life site has over 250,000 stories uploaded by our users, and thousands of those have been professionally interviewed and completed by our Storytellers. Our interviewing method is currently being used to train even more Storytellers with the intentions of recording Stories of our communities.

It's no secret that as we age, the ties that bind us to each other take on new meanings with each progressive age bracket. Kids start to feel this in school when they learn history and their places in society. Young adults look to carve out their niches in neighborhoods and communities that are conducive to their well being. As we move into our twilight years, the people around us reflect the choices of our lives. Our Stories echo this. It's important to capture these histories for the betterment of all.

It's also no secret that when any life is lost, the stories are lost as well. People are living longer, but we still lose 150,000 persons per day, and over 1,000 veterans daily. As communities we have responsibilities to

Telling stories and capturing the stories of our ancestors is a worldwide effort, but you can start right in your own community by hosting a Storytelling Day Event and collecting many stories in one fell swoop. You can follow our Guidebook to host your own Storytelling events or invite our professionals into your community for a memorable day.

Options are available for any group regardless of location, income or identity. We can help you secure Sponsors if you’d like to have us come to you, or conduct the events yourselves. Either way you are helping to build something wonderful your community - capturing the past, connecting the present and preserving Stories for the future.

We are here to help you make your own history and weave more fabric into the community story.

Thank you, and enjoy this journey.

Story of My Life and its Foundation have an ambitious goal: to collect the life Story of every person who has walked the face of this earth – in the past, the present and our futures; and to keep these Stories preserved and accessible forever. We realize that Community is one of the strongest bonds among people – their religions, associations, charities, neighborhoods, corporations, etc. We are building a website to last through the generations. We believe in the power of the Storytelling to bring us closer together and in the strength of information-building to empower, teach and share with future generations.
