Michael Braun has been a journalist for 39 years, the past 11 with The News-Press; For 25 years before Braun joined The News-Press, he was at The Vindicator in Youngstown, Ohio, as a reporter covering labor unions and utilities, outdoors editor and columnist, copy editor and page designer. Braun started his career at The Morning Journal in Lisbon, Ohio. Braun is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a degree in media communications. Braun is a native of Peoria, Ill., with stops along the way in Akron, Youngstown, Salem and Lisbon, Ohio.

Sheldon Zoldan, a native of Ohio, has been at the News-Press since 1986 in various roles as a business writer, metro reporter and a metro editor. A graduate of Ohio State before they added the The to it, he has worked at various magazines, a one-of-a-kind cable company and newspapers.

Charles Runnells covers arts and entertainment for The News-Press and news-press.com. You’ll often find him sitting in a theater scribbling notes for a play review. Charles was born in Birmingham, Ala., but he grew up all over the place thanks to his Army father. He has a journalism degree from Auburn University and started working at The News-Press in 1998. He’s obsessive about music (practically anything, but especially heavy metal), and he also loves reading, video games, yoga and movies. He lives in Cape Coral with his girlfriend and their five cats (don’t judge).

Amy Bennett Williams

Amy Bennett Williams came to The News-Press in 1988 as an ashtray-emptying, obituary-writing clerk/reporter, and has gone on to cover everything from cake contests to tuberculosis outbreaks. In addition to writing features and news articles, Williams helped conceive the paper’s weekly Tropicalia magazine, where her column, Field Notes appears. Her sense-of-place essays air weekly on local NPR affiliate WGCU. She lives in rural Alva with her writer husband, Roger, two sons and an ever-changing menagerie.
