The purpose of the Storytellers Day project is to collect stories of people and their communities. You can invite our team of professionals to your Community for a day of capturing life stories. We set up stations - video, audio, written, professional photos and photo scanning - to capture life stories. We then put them into groupings based on the community as defined by you. Stories can be life stories of people, stories about a historical event or happening, or on a specified topic. The overall mission of the project is to get at least one story of every person regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or location and group them into larger collective communities.

Hosting a Storytellers Day event takes all the work out of making a collection of life stories for any community or group. We do all the work! We come into your facility and set up stations - depending on the number of people who will add their stories to the collection - including a professional photography station, photo scanning, setting up an online web biography, video, audio and writing story stations. People sign up for a time slot and show up at their scheduled time. We take 2-5 professional photos, and then direct them to their assigned story station.

At minimum a team consists of a photographer, a writer, a videographer, and a technical person. All personnel have been trained using our time tested methods, and all of the employees have passed background checks.

Any group, association, community, town, club, historical society, religious institution, senior center, school, hospice, company or any group that would like to bring the Storytellers team in for a wonderful, historical event.

Every group gets its own customized landing page that has the group's collection of stories together. Each story is also connected to the Story of My Life website so that individuals can continue adding to their own life stories and interact with their family and loved ones, thus creating a larger connected web of stories - a larger community.

Absolutely. We cannot imagine a better gift to give to employees than the notion that a company cares about the everlasting legacy of its employees. These are priceless gifts that, unlike tschokes or useless baubles, increase in value over time.

The prices are determined by location (how far from a base point we have to send our team, and we have many throughout the country) and how many people who’d like to have stories completed. There is a base deposit, and the rest depends on how many stories we’ll be doing. We can come for a half day, an evening, a weekend, or stay for multiple days.

People who are having their life stories done can prepare for this momentous occasion by filling in the biography forms and thinking about what story they want to focus on. The stories can be directed by our professional staff, or an interview between two loved ones. Dressing up for the photos and/or video will help put the participants’ best foot forward, and help lend gravity to the gravity of the event. They should also bring their old photos to be scanned.

Each participant will get a web biography, a DVD of their pictures and story (video, written word document or PDF, or audio file), their professional photos, a biography online as part of the largest collection of life stories in the world, and a certificate with their user name for safe-keeping.

The Story of My Life website and its Storytellers Day events are open to any group - regardless of location, race, creed, ethnicity, religion, economic standing or any other criteria. Everyone has a story. Everyone belongs to communities.

We do not, however, allow Stories that are patently offensive to the online community, such as content that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual; harasses or advocates harassment of another person; and other such infringements that may harm others.

Our Storytellers are trained interviewing experts. The actual interviews run about 40 minutes, with 10 minutes preparation time and time afterwards to re-do any sections that a person would like to re-do. Participants should arrive early to get their web biography set up and their professional photo taken. If you do not bring a partner to interview you, our Storytellers will facilitate the interview. Conversations that occur unscripted are often the most personal and the best, so preparing for the topic(s) to be covered is recommended, but not reading a script. Come ready to talk about you and the stories that matter most to you.
